Small, Personalized Classes

Students choose to study with IH New York because they want to learn English from the best teachers and have a great New York experience. We offer small, intimate classes where students can maximize improvement. Small class sizes are important to IH New York, because we know that authentic communication, practical usage, and personalized attention is the key to student success. Our communicative, student-centered approach helps students to grow.

We offer five levels of General English: Beginner, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. But whether you’re a Beginner or an Advanced-level English learner, IH New York is the ideal place to study and progress to the next level.

For students who want to supplement their English Language Studies with private tuition to accelerate their progress, we also offer private 1:1 classes. Students in IH New York’s courses attend 20 lessons per week, and they can combine classroom tuition with private 1:1 lessons.

Our sister school, Teaching House, is the largest ESL teacher training center in North America, and we take the top teachers in the training program and put them in the classroom. Most language schools conduct teacher interviews in an hour or less, but we know our teachers inside and out. Areas of study

COURSES FOR ADULTS

In IH New York we can offer you General English and Business English courses, we can get you prepared you TOEFL, FCE and CAE and we can make programs specifically for your needs with tailor-made programs.

GENERAL ENGLISH

The Intensive 20 is our general English language course. Courses start every Monday and lessons are held every day from 9 am to 12:40 pm. So you get 20 lessons per week (about 17 hours).

The Intensive 20 + One-to-One Package is a general English course combined with 3 One-to-one lessons per week. So, apart from group lessons in the morning, you have a private teacher three times per week in the afternoon.

The prices per week are as follows:

EXECUTIVE ENGLISH

The Executive English course is a mini-group business English course focusing on business language and skills. Courses start every Monday and the lessons are held every day from 9 am to 12:40 pm. So you get 20 lessons per week (about 17 hours).

EXAM PREPARATION COURSES

The TOEFL Intensive is a test preparation course designed to get you ready for your TOEFL exam. It focuses both on improving your general language level while also providing you with specific skills you need to succeed on the exam. Courses start every Monday and the lessons are held every day from 9 am to 12:40 pm. So you get 20 lessons per week (about 17 hours).

The FCE Intensive and CAE Intensive courses are 10 weeks long and are designed to prepare you take the exam at IH New York. Note: Exam fees are separate.

ONE-TO-ONE CLASSES

If you prefer to study all of the above or something specific on your own, or if you want to make your own schedule of classes, or maybe you just want your teacher to be focused only on you then private lessons should be your choice. These classes are primarily focused on what your needs and wants are!

Additional services that we can offer is the insurance booking at the price of $2/day and airport transfer booking with the prices as follows:

Additional fees are $100 registration fee and $50 for express mail for any documents upon request.

EXAMS

Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE) are given twice a year at IH New York.

TOEFL exam is taken at a designated ETS test center and it is not administered at IH New York.

The prices and dates for the exams are as follows:

Additional fee is $115 for each exam entry made within 12 weeks or less before the exam date.

COURSES FOR JUNIORS

The Summer Camp for Teenagers is an all-inclusive, interactive English language camp for international students aged 12-18.

Our all-inclusive summer camp includes:

15 hours of tuition per week

—3 meals a day

—Accommodation (in shared rooms - 2 beds to a room with shared bathroom)

—Local travel on subways and buses

—6+ excursions per week to New York’s cultural, historical, architectural and commercial highlights, including entry to six top attractions: The Empire State Building, MoMA, The American Museum of Natural History, Rockefeller Center observation deck (we do this as an evening excursion), The Statue of Liberty, The Metropolitan Museum of Art

—Fully organized social program with sports and activities.
